   Black & White made its debut in 1999 for practitioners and collectors of creative b&w imagery. In recognition of our 100th issue, we interview founding editor Henry Rasmussen and profile 10 Spotlight winners whose exposure in our pages helped further their fine art careers.

   Bob Adelman has given us some of the most indelible images of the Civil Rights Movement, famous artists (Andy Warhol, Raymond Carver) and unexpected corners of American culture, always with profound empathy and respect for his subjects, regardless of class, color or creed.

   The visionary Brazilian photographer talks about his ambitious Genesis project, on which he spent eight years documenting Earth’s pristine sanctuaries in hopes of inspiring their preservation—and raising awareness of the need to reclaim the environments we’ve already damaged.
