His first portrait was of his college mentor, the sculptor Robert Arneson. It was 1979, and Kurt Fishback had just decided to commit himself fully to his photography. His father, Glen Fishback, had had a successful career as a commercial photographer, and ran the respected Glen Fishback School of Photography in Sacramento, California for decades. Kurt needed to find his own way to shine from behind the long shadow his father had cast.
