Wayne Palmer Single Image Winner cityscape/street
Times Square in New York City is a dream for street photographers like myself: the mix of New Yorkers and tourists; the jumble of billboards; the open spaces that allow light from many angles. I have entered Times Square from the Port Authority on the west, from 6th Ave. on the east, and sometimes from 34th St. further south. On this occasion, I entered from the north, down Broadway. The open plaza looked tighter, elements interconnected, bursting with energy. I saw a resonant image, wherein the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. I was rewarded for taking a different approach to a place I knew well.
